Land of Legend Fly Fishers

Meetings are held on the second, third and fourth Mondays of each month at 7pm in Heritage Hall (click here for map) unless otherwise noted.  Meetings will be cancelled due to inclement weather anytime Newark City School are closed due to weather.

Business meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Our business meetings usually consist of a guest speaker, attending to club business and the monthly raffle.

The Fly Tying meeting is the third Monday and offers instruction on how to tie a different fly each month.  We have some excellent instructors who are ready to assist you regardless of your experience level.  Check our event calendar to see which fly we will be tying at any given meeting.

The Rod Building meeting is the fourth Monday of the month.  Our rod building instructors will water your eyes!  The rods they craft are not just implements of the sport, they are works of art!  They are ready to teach you how to build your own rod and make what seems to be an impossible task an achievable goal.

Our meetings are open to anyone who is interested so come and check us out!

Every June we have a picnic for our members at Fackler’s pond.  Members and guests enjoy a day of fishing, fellowship and food!  In 2014 we added a creel survey to help our management efforts at the pond.

Our banquet is in early November and gives us an opportunity to get together in the off season, enjoy our successes and have a good time.  The raffle is a huge part of this event and gets better every year!

Rod Raffle

The Rod Raffle is our main fund raiser.  The proceeds support our education and outreach efforts as well enabling us to support other causes.  The raffle offers three rods handcrafted by our rod builders complete with reels.  First place is a bamboo fly rod, second place a graphite fly rod and third place is a graphite spinning rod.  Tickets go on sale in January and the drawing is held at the May business meeting.
